We are a small retreat group located in southern CO looking for one more family unit or select individuals. We have a good location and are prepared for longterm sustainable agriculture and ranching.
This opportunity is only open to those who are well prepared and have valuable skills to offer. We understand the difficulties in being a “beginner”, but some of us have been at this for 20 plus years.
Here is the short list of what we expect from any applicants:
loads of common sense, a pratical approach to survival, patience, courage, a strong will, not afraid of hard work, physically fit, of sound mind, and COMPLETE HONESTY WITH US AND YOURSELF. Have at least one critical skill (millitary, ham radio, medical, or something equivalent). The tangable requirements should be obvious to anyone who has been prepping for more than a couple of years (years supply of food, self defence, water purification, yada, yada, yada). This is an offer to someone who is comfortably prepared and is only lacking a destination.
If any of the following apply to you, no consideration will be offered: Dishonesty, criminal record, religious zealots, radicals, and anyone further away than 500 miles. Please don’t waste our time, because we do not want to waste yours.
There will be a vetting process (by all our current members), and a probationary period.
Hello, my name is John Galt (not real name)
One of my ancestors signed the Declaration of Independence (this is true). Perhaps that is one reason why I have inner feelings and passions for freedom. Or perhaps God puts it into everyone’s DNA. Although I hate labels and how they put one into a box, you might say that I have some of the same philosophies as the Founding Fathers or Libertarians. Ron Paul makes sense to me.
My wife and I live in Beaverton, OR and are looking to start a group or join a group in the Pacific Northwest that is oriented to individual freedom and at the same time gives support to each other for any kind of general or local disaster. We like the idea of cooperation without the individual becoming a slave to the group. Like a good marriage, we are separate individuals that come together to make something that is more powerful and beautiful. Location is important as we would like to be in a state with more freedoms and further from the “Golden Horde.” Right now, that looks like Idaho, although Washington and Oregon seem to have better crop growing conditions.

We have an extensive library of practical books, tools and know how for getting things done. We are following James Wesley Rawles suggestions for preparation from his book “How to Survive the End of the World as we Know It.” In the event of an emergency, we expect to take responsibility for ourselves while joining with others to make a more powerful group.
Open to networking, discussion, proposals, and suggestions. You can reach me at John_Galt@ArgosyTraders.com .

I’ve come across this website from the Survival Blog, which should give you a little insight into myself right off the bat.
My family and I currently live on a small acreage in NE Iowa. We have a large garden, the beginnings of animals (chickens currently with with sheep/goats/or cows to come), and are developing the skills needed to survive in a world unlike what we have right now. Can we do it alone, no. I’m simply looking right now for other NE Iowa/SE Minnesotans/SW Wisconsinites who are of a similar mind set. We aren’t Rambos, wing nuts, or head cases, just simple folks trying to prepare the best they can while others around them go along either merry way.
Meeting down the road would be a possibility, but for right now, just finding and at least starting those conversations would be of interest. Respond here or at iateacher@hotmail.com and we can start from there. Thanks for reading and good luck to all of you.
I have seen the Iowa posts and have talked to some of you via e-mail. Seems like we’re looking for the same things. I suggest we see if we can work together toward our common goals.

My wife and I along with some others here have gone to great lengths and expense to make this sixty acre semi remote ranch very well equipped and secured. Most folks know few truly plan ahead. The few that try to often can not afford owning a secondary out of the way location with supportive infrastructures set up for a month or a year or more. Their current home/location will simply not function if the grid shuts down, utilities shut off and their area falls apart. They have possibly even tried to recruit others to share in a land buy with plans to share the costs to develop it… to no avail.
We offer some of them an option here. We are still looking for several remaining qualified adult couples of like mind and spirit to join us. We might consider a single but no promises… We are not (survivalists) looking “forward” to hard times. More like realists and good folks who are well prepared treating each other with respect creating good working relationships maintaining strict silence. We are striving together to increase our collective ability to survive almost any disaster. In the mean time we enjoy life normally all in our own homes in the region to it’s fullest…
We will get to know ahead of time those others we might need to labor with here…Thus would prefer folks in the northwest region (or are relocating here) who are able to get here safely within a short days drive. That is a reasonable amount of time in the event of an emergency. Most are in various late stages of preparing and most are pre-positioning to join up here. This location is ready to be put into operation.
Most others are still attempting to meet people, buy and develop some remote piece of land… with others? That will take years including membership turn over and the massive legal expense to do…if ever. This location is ready to be put into operation.
If our offer is not for you, we do not intend on what we are doing to be a comparison issue or a put down to your ideas… Good luck to all of you working hard at planning ahead….
About us {our group believes} that few of us operating alone during an extended dangerous time can safely sleep, prepare food, eat, bath, grow food, cut/split firewood, take care of the chores, raise our children, relax and very importantly watch the perimeters… all at the same time. All those in our group lead by the example of having gotten “it done” and are “well prepped” as per our common list. (no lip service here)… Teamed up with additional folks (healthy, in good physical shape, vigorous and non smokers) with qualified mental attitudes, eyes and hands would go a long way in successfully surviving a long term dangerous and stressful event. We prepare to join and work together here (only during a crisis event) duration, to stay safer until things settled back down again…
The Ranch is able to operate on or off the power grid. {leading by example}. Our operation can also reproduce some food stores. Everyone coming on board must be very dedicated, trainable concerning this location, be able to happily work together, be respectful, operate within the clearly stated normal rules/guidelines, hike the hills, prepare meals, garden, clean up, maintain their watches (cold or hot) handle their firearms or fill in for another partner’s position. This is an organized collective team/family effort to survive during what could be deadly time… we hope never occurs.
The group… initially qualifies folks who respond to the posting by what they have “already acquired and accomplished”, not by their “wishful intent or talk of future preparations”. Your willingness and ability to “get it done” is what you will need here…. in truth actually anywhere.
If we are contacted by you, then through the procession of emails… to phone calls… to personal visits you will be either accepted …or not by us. Of course you must like what you find here. If mutually accepted you then begin the process to full on board membership. You will be required to fill 100% of our “Group List” to qualify as per material needs while you and the rest of our team gets to know each other. Of course you are encouraged to acquire more than the list but at least you are providing for your basic needs within our list. As we see it that is your reasonable service here. This is our vetting procedure with each other. This relationship can be terminated at any time during this process if either party finds it not wise to continue. Once the list is 100% filled and you have earned the confidence and respect of our entire group you will be allowed to come fully on board. At that point you will also have earned the position to be an active part of the decision making process here. That also means you have proven your ability to be a team player here. That also means you now have earned a secured place and position on this Ranch site in the case of a terrible crisis event. Let me make this clear…you will not be allowed on to this Ranch during any said crisis until all the above has been accomplished. We must be able to count on you being here fully prepared just as much as you count on us…
Your personal skills and training along with ours will be very important and valuable to us all. However such skills will not be allowed to substitute for your lack of dedication and preparedness in your supplies. Our group is comprised of highly devoted and very well prepared mature couples. It appears that the average couples financial investments into all their current quality food, needed medicines, clothing, personal needs, weapons, ammo, technical gear and so much more for a one full year minimum has varying ranges. One person might be content with a used 500.00 bolt action rifle while another wants something for 2,000.00 or more. There are many options from which to complete the required supply list. What value do you place on your lives?
For us it is imperative that both halves of your couple are on the very same page in “mind set and willingness to work hard” at this for the common good and well being of the group. You both must have fully addressed the possible emotional issues of grown children or family and or friends not fully on board being left behind. Please do not contact us unless these and other such issues like your financial ability have been honestly addressed.
In turn, our growing group can provide a very secure and comfortable semi remote location to those couples who qualify. If a couple is accepted by our group, they would need (as per your group list) a well equipped R.V. type shelter for their personal and private living quarters “before” showing up in case of an emergency. It does not need to be pretty just in good working order and there are several nearby RV storage locations if you so desire. You can not just show up without your living quarters being secured and remaining list 100% filled. No one owns a part of our Ranch. No one builds here or stays here other than during an agreed upon level of an extended crisis or disaster.
We have already created RV parking inside under cover or in the open, unlimited water, scheduled power supply and outhouses to handle several units. Aside from our personal home, we have a rustic guest home (occupied by our family only during a crisis event) with several bedrooms. If the weather becomes to severe to handle in your (RV) primary personal quarters, the guest house is a great short term “fall back position” although crowded. We’ve also teamed up with some of our other secluded neighbors out here in various ways, doing much of the same thing, watching each others backs.
Remember… none of us know the hour/day of the potential need to fall back to a much safer preplanned location. Disasters whether economic or natural or man made do not just occur at 11:00 am on a warm and sunny day….with warning? It might happen in the rain and cold or the middle of the night or dead of winter…. are you ready? We are not preoccupied with hoping any event would ever happen (rather we go about our normal lives enjoy every day to the fullest. That is another reason for your R.V… take it camping or use it as storage for your needed gear.
Your level of preparations and how you conduct yourself… speaks (to us) clearly of your true level of belief and commitment. In addition if you wish to join up with us we fully except you to complete your needed preparations very quickly. We will have to place a limit on families and their little children, “no pets” mostly just mature couples. Children tend to draw away from the available adult work force needed here to keep this a safe and functioning operation.
I have found many people with the “survivalist” perspective to be very independent. That is fine, but not here. We are a cohesive group… not a bunch of folks doing their own thing their own way…. In addition the truth is people come and go in life. Having joint ownership in a location poses tremendous problems when they need to move on…. not so here.
As you can expect none of us wish to or intend to help overthrow our government (we voter) or challenge our local authority. We (wisely observing past actions and just don’t believe they are truly equipped to handle the masses a large crisis… let alone their own families). We don’t want others who dislike people outside their own race {who knows who we will team up with}. Just good “American Citizens” wishing to work together to survive a possible crisis well prepared and successfully able to survive….so after the dust clears we can be part of the rebuilding. Please note that no one is forced to stay with us, nor are we a cult, a commune, a control group or anything strange to you or us. Now if you are interested feel free to contact us and tell us about yourselves. You can list all your weapons and ammo if you wish to…but much more importantly tell us about yourself and your long term daily survival supplies. Again…tell us about yourselves, we have already told you about us. Contact through this site or leave us a message.
