Hello my name is Michael Wilson,
My wife Terri and I would like to extend a warm greeting to you.
Like all on this web site, we too are looking to live and fellowship within a community of similar minded people. We are not a couple that wishes to start any anarchist movement against our country, nor are we a pair of bible thumping, hallelujah, hell fire and brimstone people. My wife and I are simply 2 mature, educated Christians that believe it is time to start preparing for what maybe a “seasonal” change, as is stated in the Scriptures.
We, Terri and I, through prayer and diligently seeking out the Lord’s guidance, find ourselves in a position to take several actions:
A) Join a already existent group
B) Search out others and purchase land together
C) Purchase land on our own
All three offer advantages as well as disadvantages:
Joining an existing group will have an organized structure and resources in place, plus have the added “safety in numbers”. The down side is that we may find ourselves with people that have incompatible moral, ethical and religious beliefs that could cause unnecessary and even dangerous strife within the group. As they say “birds of a feather flock together”. That is not to discount witnessing to others but when your families safety and health is on the line, it’s nice to know who you can trust and count on. Then there are the leadership abilities, political agenda and over all mindset of the group. Am I and my wife valued assets and members of a community or are we just a means to protect the upper leaders ASSets?
Searching for others seems to be the most ideal choice. The collective buying power, resources, knowledge and experiences of multiple families would greatly enhance and strengthen the security and fellowship amongst the community members. Since it would be a relatively small group (approx 10 families) each member would share in the liabilities, responsibilities and division of work needed for the survival of all; Gardening, harvesting, care of livestock, building and maintenance, etc. and of course security. As all members would have similar values and beliefs, it would increase their resolve and faith against any trials that will come before them.
The last option is for us to simply go off into the mountains ourselves and build a private retreat. Although this may be what the Lord wills of us, I realize that it is not the most ideal plan as it entails huge amounts of additional work and provides for the minimal amount of security. Given the fact that scriptures tell us to fellowship with others, this kind of seclusion doesn’t seem to be in keeping with the Word.
What my wife and I wish is to “go off the grid”. That is to say that we wish to exclude ourselves from the social, economical and political influences of the majority. We wish to produce our own electricity, fuel and food. That is not to say that we wish to completely cut ourselves off from the world but simply live in a community with minimum invasion from it.
We have been given an opportunity to purchase 160 acres of medium timbered land here in Montana. It provides plenty of natural spring water with abundant game and gardening locations.
I am hoping that this letter finds you in the same frame of mind and possibly encourages you to start a conversation with us.
I would like to end this letter with a few quotes from the Word:

Hello there. My wife and I would like to join a well established group located somewhere in ID, MT, WY, WA, ND area. The safer and better the retreat will of course be our first choice.
About us. We are both military officers. She is currently on Active Duty and I just did six years in Iraq/Afghanistan for the state department with one of the big name contracting companies.
In the Army I was an Infantry officer and Special Forces. I have been through the 18D and 18A course. Ranger LRSD plenty of other schools. I am a Hazmat Technician and Weapons of Mass Destruction Specialist if you have CBRNE concerns. My resume is extensive and I dont want to list it all here. included are Sniper, Gunsite shotgun/carbine/pistol – all completed their highest course. Multiple combat awards.
Wife and I are both from Alaska and backwoods savvy. I am a life member of National Trappers Assoc and can trap and snare and own a dream trapline.
We are of high moral character. We have no children though my wife loves them. We are well equipped but still need to get our food reserves. We are financially sound. We lack mechanical and agricultural experience. Tactically, wilderness survival and self defense wise, or NBC related – we pretty much have covered.

Regarding this message recently posted below as SW Montana, many of us from the groups “The Family”, “Tribe” and the “Lightfoots” will be in Hamilton (Montana & Idaho groups). Most of us in the valley live off of Hwy’s 12 or 93. The Family and Tribe should have a good showing as the Family survival group has it’s monthly rendezvous in Hamilton anyways on that weekend. See you there. Family has over 400 active and I think the Tribe is sporting over 300 so we should have a good turn out. Only thing that separates most of us is the Clearwater Nat. Forest which is our playground. See you there and the Family & Tribe should have great attendance this weekend. Gramp

May 4th at the Ravalli Cnty Fair Grounds in Hamilton at 6PM for a Potluck & main meeting at 6:45PM. About 500 show up regularly every month! Of course there are subgroups at various levels of seriousness/dedication who meet regularly to educate one another in our on-going effort to be self-sufficient & prepared. I know what it’s like being alone with a mind set dedicated to seeking what’s true & standing for what’s right. You feel like an alien. Well, I am a woman of faith & God answered my prayers by providentially connecting me with a group of like minded people. All are fairly conservative, many libertarian & others are respected for “whatever” their individual personal beliefs are. You have an interesting background. Email me back if you’d like to chat. Also – we’re hosting a big event at the University of MT (Msla) May 21st &22nd at the Adam’s Center. We’ve invited Chuck Baldwin, Sheriff Richard Mack, Schaeffer Cox, Gary Marbut as well as others to guest speak. The goal is to have 5,000 show up! We’ll see . . .

Looking for like minded individuals who are Preppers. First and foremost if only to increase my number from 1, as it is the loneliest number. Besides my odds of survival increase. Currently seeking land in the SW MT area for purchase for building a GOOD home. Perhaps others would like to ‘invest’ with me? Regardless, it would be nice to know others who are seeking the same and have like minded ideas so we can continue developing a better situation for ourselves. A little about me: I work full time as a “manager’ in procurement and receiving, Single never married, no kids. I dont smoke nor drink much, exercise often esp on the weight lifting. I hunt fish hike shoot and have since I was a kid. I never joined the military although I did do the ROTC for 3 years in college and did a couple weeks of training at FT Lewis. Even then I couldnt trust the government. One has to give our soldiers respect as they are the only citizens who truely know what it means to lose one’s freedom, they give up so much to defend our country! I worked as a mechanic part time in college as well, I’ve always been able to work on vehicles. Raised to be prepared all my life, the cold war was a real deal for me growing up, drills and all. My professional background is in restaurant management, I also have a culinary arts degree. When I first came to MT ten years ago it was to a large private working ranch as a personal chef. Later I also took care of the livestock, building maintenance, vehicles, security patrols, irrigation, so on… I am confident that I have the abilities or the abilities to learn what it will take to survive when TSHTF. Is there anyone out there who will join me? BTW – I do not hold myself to any religion. Studied it, read it, understand it and respect it, but I hold no faith in it. So you might wonder where my faith may lie because we all have to have something to believe in? Well I believe in myself, and in those whom I trust, I have faith in those standing with me in the times that are most troubled.

There is something that keeps telling me to move to Montana or somewhere in that area. I’m an easy going person. Its just me and my yellow lab. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

50 year old Colorado medical couple, Christian, originally from Montana wanting to retreat back to Yellowstone valley or like/surrounding area. 10 years Family practice and 3 years combat medevac (Iraq). Spouse is labor/delivery. Grew up ranch/farm (ie hard work), hunt/fish. Wanting to just coms with preparedness-minded folks who also anticipate the coming bad times.
